The Alchemy of Belonging
Our relationships are a site of belonging, but what does that actually look like in practice?
Belonging is an inherently relational experience. We can feel belonging when we are in right relationship to a group of people where alignment on shared values, connection and intimacy, acceptance and loving regard for who we are and how we want to express, and transformative accountability is practiced. But what does it actually feel like in our bodies to belong beyond the words that we say? How does our body soften when we’re with someone who shares our values? How does our armor come down when we’re in a difficult conversation and want to repair a rupture?
This season is about the practice of noticing how we feel within ourselves and how we experience belonging within community. It's an invitation to notice what it looks like to not only heal from those learned ways of being, but to notice more capacity within ourselves to choose a different way of being.
This season, Rootspace is a practice ground for the Alchemy of Belonging.

Springtime Invocation
Rooted in Belonging, Ignited in Purpose
We gather this Spring, a season of reemergence and becoming as what was tended in the shadow of winter reaches toward light, we reach toward each other. We come as we are, with gifts to offer and wounds to heal. Rooted in belonging, we remember: we are interdependent and do not journey alone.
We call upon our benevolent ancestors, Spirit, nature as teacher, and the wisdom within our bodies to guide us into deep connection with ourselves, each other, and the natural world. May we commit to kinship, actively composting harm and tilling the soil of the world we build together.
May we honor this space with care. Holding confidence as sacred. Taking responsibility for how we show up. And remembering that safety is something we nurture together through presence, curiosity, and reciprocal consent. When discomfort arises, may we meet it with openness. When rupture occurs, may we lean into repair.
We ground ourselves in politicized somatics, knowing our bodies carry history, wisdom, and possibility. May we feel as an act of sovereignty. May we honor self-intimacy as power. May our actions reflect the love in our hearts. May the care of this cohort ripple through timelines. And in this season of ignition may our sparks become the flame that light our way towards liberation.

Thu May 7th, 6:30-8:30pm Central
w monica climaco
an exercise in excavation is an experimental and whimsical workshop. the goal is to externalize and uproot our inner oppressors, so that we can get curious and begin to understand them, and work towards reclaiming their power over us. part 1 of 2 workshops on practicing freedom, inspired by Audre Lorde's writing on revolutionary change.

Centered Integrity
Sat May 23rd, 12-2pm Central
w denim {d} chang
Centered Integrity is an exploration of relational right distance and the dismantling of victim/savior dynamics. We will discuss the energetics of vertical alignment as an embodiment of rooted self-worth, and how the spectrum of self-abandonment and relational neglect are reflections of imprinted attachment and enmeshment. This will be a gentle, loving and consensual space to explore our capacity to care for ourselves and each other.
Rage Release
Thu May 14th, 7-8:45pm Central
w Azul Lopez of Mariposx Healing
Your wise, precious, sacred body isn’t wrong for making you feel sensations and emotions of rage and anger. Look at all the horrible abuses happening to us, our people, and the land. Your body isn’t wrong, the systems are. These evil systems were designed to oppress, and that is exactly what they are doing. These same oppressive systems benefit from us keeping all our emotions in. Lack of expression and release makes us emotionally, physically, and spiritually sick. This is why we are inviting you to join us for a RAGE RELEASE session. This is an offering to express and Release your Rage through breath, movement, medicine drum vibrations, and somatic practices. Practice letting it out with other people who are tired and fed up, in a space that is intentionally supported. Allow your body to have this necessary release and not have to carry it all.

Practice Circles
Healing Our Hurt
Facilitated by denim {d} chang
- Thursday, April 30th, 6:30-8:30pm central
- Saturday, May 30th, 12-2pm central
Hurt people hurt people. But we don’t have to. Relational challenges are high right now because we’re collectively struggling under the weight of a falling empire.
Our usual defense mechanisms like shutting down and withdrawing, or lashing out and blaming, shaming and ghosting– continue to perpetuate cycles of harm and hurt that are certainly not helping.
Healing Our Hurt is a somatic practice and healing circle for those who would like to share and be witnessed in their relational struggle, supported by somatic practices that will help us understand what our heart and spirit needs to heal.
Open Practice
Facilitated by monica
- Thursday, May 21st, 6:30-8pm central
- Thursday, June 11th, 6:30-8pm central
Open Practice is a monthly communal space to move from theory into embodied action and application. Each session is mainly shaped as open time held in community, where you choose what feels most nourishing and integrative: movement, journaling, developing your own practices, seeking guidance, or simply being.
monica will be in attendance to kick off the session and hold the space for the group, as well as to provide support, offer ideas, lead a guided practice if requested, and otherwise serve as an encouraging presence who can help address any needs that may arise.
Much like body doubling, this circle offers the supportive presence of community while you focus on your own intentions. There is no performance, no expectation, just an open container where you are free to tend to what serves you, alongside others doing the same.
Cohort Enrollment
This season, we are enrolling students into the Rootspace on a cohort basis. This means that there are no drop-in sessions available. You are invited to join us for as many or all the cohort workshops and practice circles, at the enrollment tier of your choice and accessibility.
