Welcome to the Rootspace
At somatics for the people, we believe that the body and spirit is the root of liberation work.
We know that trauma-sensitive and generative communal healing is vital for both individual growth and the formation of our shared visions for collective sovereignty.
The rootspace is our community hub and a gathering place for us to learn and practice the embodiment skills essential for our ongoing collective liberation.
At the center of our work are queer and trans Black, Indigenous, people of culture (QTBIPOC), and the complexity of our lived experiences.Â
Enroll in the Rootspace by signing up for any of our upcoming offerings for a season of deepening your relationships to self, community, spirit and beyond.

Practice CirclesÂ

Open Practice
- Oct 27, Mon 6-7pm Central w monica
- Nov 13, Mon 6-7pm Central w monica
Open Practice is a monthly communal space to move from theory into embodied action. Each session is mainly shaped as open time held in community where you choose what feels most nourishing: movement, journaling, developing your own practices, seeking guidance, or simply being.
A facilitator will be in attendance to kick off the session and hold the space for the group, as well as to provide support, offer ideas, lead a guided practice if requested, and otherwise serve as an encouraging presence who can help address any needs that may arise.
Much like body doubling, this space offers the supportive presence of community while you focus on your own intentions. There is no performance, no expectation, just an open container where you are free to tend to what serves you, alongside others doing the same.

Black Affinity Circle
- Oct 5, Sun 5-6:30 pm Central
- Nov 5, Wed 6-7:30pm Central
Facilitated by Sam, Reawakening Divine Humanness is a sacred space centering Black voices, culture, and Spirit. This is more than an affinity space. It is a homecoming.
Designed as a safe, supportive container to gather in authenticity, connection, and joy. Every session centers Black experiences and perspectives, creating a sanctuary where Blackness is not just affirmed but celebrated, where healing is communal, and where Spirit calls us back to the truth of who we are.
Reawakening Divine Humanness is about building solidarity, rooting into connection through our truths, honoring our differences, and co-creating visions of liberated futures. We’ll engage in healing practices, exploring somatic, spiritual, and communal tools to process trauma, reclaim joy, and embody our power. All while celebrating our culture and creativity, honoring our resilience through ritual, art, music, and storytelling that uplift the spirit of our community.

Healing Our Hurt Circle
- Oct 23, Fri 6-7:30pm Central
- Nov 21, Thu 6-7:30pm Central
Facilitated by d.
Hurt people hurt people. But we don’t have to. Relational struggles are high right now because we’re collectively struggling under the weight of a falling empire. Our usual defense mechanisms like shutting down and withdrawing, or lashing out and blaming, shaming and ghosting– continue to perpetuate cycles of harm and hurt that are certainly not helping.Â
Healing Our Hurt is a somatic practice and healing circle for those who would like to share and be witnessed in their relational struggle. We’ll explore the differences between disagreement, conflict, hurt, harm and abuse to develop a shared language, supported by somatic practices that will help us understand what our heart and spirit needs to heal.Â
